Sullied Saturday

I know I was just over there a week ago, but for Memorial Day weekend, I got to go back across the mountains to see cousin Hendrix for a few days (woohoo!)! Something about mom having to babysit him or something...

Anyways, after lunch today we got to go outside and play in his backyard. His parents just bought a new house last fall and have been doing lots of neat landscaping projects there (retaining walls, grass seed, new plants and bushes, etc). We found a cool spot under the tree where the grass was especially thin and had a BLAST wallowing in the dirt! Imagine my mom's horror when she saw me looking like THIS...

...tee hee hee!

Partners in GRIME!

I think he might be sweet on me...

Dapper fellow, isn't he?

(sigh)... getting filthy is exhausting.

Wrestling is FUN!!

For my little girl's fourth birthday, we got to go across the mountain to celebrate with family. This meant that I got to see my cousin Hendrix!

Even though he weighs twice as much as me (I am 23 pounds now!) I'm a little bigger since our last visit and enjoyed rough housing with him a little bit more. I gave as good as I got! We played for hours on end, chasing, nibbling, tackling, rolling...

The fur on our necks was was wet from where we had been mouthing each other.

We played so hard we needed drinks! Our moms were impressed that we waited and took turns without being prompted.

My turn!

Break's over!!

Toothless Tuesday

I've lost my first tooth! I wanted to save it and put it under my bed for the Puppy Tooth Fairy, but it's so little that I lost it and there's no telling where it might be! Hopefully the Puppy Tooth Fairy knows what a good girl I have been and will bring me some treats anyways?

Our First Award! Help Share the Love!

Macy's Puppy Tales won an award from Dexter at The Tales of Dexter and Nora! Help keep the blogger love going! Here are the rules:

1. Thank the person who gave it to you.

Thank you for giving us our first award, Dexter! We are new to the blogging world and are having a great time meeting new furfriends and their owners! We love hearing what our new friends are up to and looking at their pictures!

2. Share 7 things about yourself.

  1. I am only 13 weeks old but joined my forever family at only 6 weeks. Mom was concerned about me joining the family at such a young age, but everything has been great in the end—I started to learn early on what the rules were (like not jumping on people and other commands), which helped me happily get settled in my new home.
  2. Despite my soft and fluffy golden coat, I often get mistaken for a yellow lab. What's up with that? Just wait for my feathery tail to grow in—there should be no mistaking I'm a golden after that!
  3. I love to have my tummy tickled!
  4. I am hoping to be a therapy dog after my first birthday next year. I am looking forward to visiting folks in nursing homes and other places to cheer them up. Mom has me enrolled at puppy school now so that I can learn to be a good girl and accomplish this goal! My teacher thinks I'm going to be a great therapy dog!
  5. I love to lay around in my yard and munch on sticks and bones while my mom pulls weeds out of the flower bed and my four year old little girl plays with her sidewalk chalk or in her sandbox. Sometimes my little girl and I like to run laps around the outside of our house! She giggles when I run with her. This just encourages me all the more!
  6. Sometimes I think I might be a cat in disguise. My forever family has a cat named Smokey. I have taken good notes on how he jumps and have tried many times to mimic his technique. I just can't quite seem to jump like him though. Smokey is allowed on the furniture (I am not, however upon my insistence, mom has decided to let me have the ottoman). He likes to lay on the top of the cozy stuffed chair. Mom freaks when I jump up there and stand like a billy goat. I don't understand why I can't be up there too?
  7. I lost my first tooth the other day! Mom might have liked to have kept it, but it was one of my teeny tiny front ones, and there's no telling where that thing is!

3. Pass the award along to 15 bloggers who you have recently discovered and you think are fantastic:
  1. Tails of a Carnivorous Convict: Life as a Prison Puppy
  2. Daily Dose of Jack
  3. How Sam Sees It
  4. Yoda at Barking Out Loud

  9. Farley's Golden Life: The Diary of a Distinguished Dog
  10. Claire's Dog Diaries
  11. Sierra-dog blog

  13. (we are still meeting new bloggers and hope to have new favorites soon!)

One Month Later...

Check out these pictures! Notice how much head clearance my sweet pup has in this first shot!

Now look! Only one month later and her head touches the ceiling of the cage with her sweet little blonde hair poking out of the top! And when she stands up, her tail pops out of the bars and waves back and forth like a bicycle flag! I think our girl has finally outgrown this kennel. Thankfully Macy has a much larger kennel in another room!

FURminators Unite!

An average of over 370,000 pounds of hair is clipped in salons in the United States each day. Groomers generally cut three pounds per day! Typically these clippings end up in the landfill, however in light of the recent oil rig disaster, a new use for unwanted hair has emerged—hair woven into mats or stuffed into booms made of recycled nylons and mesh casing which are then used to encircle oil spills to help keep them from spreading.

In addition to human hair, horse hair, wool, and fur are all effective toward this cause (let's FURminate!). If you would like to learn more about this effort and how you can make a donation (hair or otherwise), please visit Matter of Trust. Encourage your salons to participate too!

Pressing Her Luck

When we brought baby Macy into our home, we decided that because of her eventual size, we wanted to impose a "no dogs on the furniture" rule while she was little so it wouldn't be such a challenge once she was grown. However, now that Macy has grown legs, she has started testing the rules.

Notice, her back legs are still on the floor, so "technically", she's not "on" the furniture (or so she would argue).

What? I'm not doing anything...

WOOHOO! I made it! Uh-oh... my bone fell to the floor... I wasn't done with that...
