Our Good Patient Shows Progress at Night

Our second night with Macy went even better than the night before. This time when placed in her kennel, she just fussed for about 5 or 10 minutes and quickly settled in for a snooze. Last night she went to bed without any fuss at all. She wakes me up about every 2 1/2 hours with a short bark, big flashy smile, and a wagging tail to let me know it's time to go outside! She's quick to do her business and goes back to bed easily.

Yesterday we started working on some "come" training. She's getting better. Training her is tricky because she's usually "there" anyways! She loves being with us, cuddling and playing. Last night she started to play fetch with us!

Much to Grace's delight, once Macy gets the nibbles and "zoomies" out of her system, she is a perfect patient! Grace accompanied me to Macy's first visit to our vet and took good notes...

Checking the heart and lungs just like our vet did....
hmm, sounds good...

Here she is "collecting a stool sample". She didn't have a good view of this procedure, but she knows it has something to do with the dog's tail area...

Being a good patient is exhausting!

I SURVIVED!!

Whew! Our first night with a new puppy in the house! I usually stay up later, but knew it would be a long night, so we all hit the sack early. Macy and I camped out near each other downstairs in the living room—she in her crate and me on the couch. She fussed pretty good for about 15 minutes, but soon settled down. I had a vibrating alarm set to go off every 2 1/2 hours, but about that time she was up anyways whimpering to let me know she needed to go potty. We'd come back in from a successful trip outside and she'd settle back down in her crate quickly. Overall things went much better than I expected. Hopefully tonight will go equally well!

She is super sweet and is dying for my younger cat to play with her. She was pouncing at him and yapping—just being cute and friendly in general—and even tried to lick his nose! Imagine his dismay at that! He's not quite ready to be friends with her yet, but I have no doubt he will one of these days.

Off for now... somebody's trying to nibble me!

Macy's Homecoming!

Macy moved into our home today! She was a little bit concerned about the drive at first, but quickly settled down and managed to take a few naps on the drive home.

When we got home, Grace wanted to show her all of her new toys at once! Macy had fun checking them out. She's already got a couple of favorites. The cat introductions went better than expected. Holly seemed indifferent, but Smokey is still not sure what this furry blonde creature is doing in our house. He just sits a safe distance away and watches her. Macy doesn't seem to care one way or the other about them.

She is SO beautiful and has the most delicate eye lashes! I stared in awe at her most of the way home. She is super sweet and loves to cuddle. She likes to follow Grace around and be near her. This, of course, pleases Grace immensely! She is super excited about teaching Macy to fetch, etc and can't wait to take her for walks!

She's had a long day. Poor little thing is tuckered out!

And the Winner is...

...MACY! Thanks to everyone for their votes in our "Help Name the Puppy" poll! We originally planned to name her 'Macey' with an 'e', but have since decided to go with just Macy. We look forward to starting our lives with her SOON!

Five Week Update!

She is a quick learner—she is good about going outside or on pee pads. She doesn't play bite as much as the others, and she likes to cuddle but she is still very much energetic. She is just a happy little puppy!

Too Cute for Words!

Our little girl is doing super. She is now climbing out of the whelping box and exploring her new world. When it was warm she loved being outside, but with the damp weather she is content to hang out in the garage. She is about 7 pounds and eating a lot. She is mainly eating puppy food and loves it!

Another Day in the Life

Our pup has turned into quite a little fire cracker! She and Blitz love to go investigate when let loose. The other day she tried to chew on her mama's bone and mama got jealous and moved her bone outside. It was so funny because the bone was bigger than her!

Here she is with mama's bone

New Skills, New Experiences

Today our pup is three weeks old! She is doing great—she is barking, walking, cutting teeth, and recognizing sound. She has started growing up a lot this week—she is almost five pounds and has been introduced to soft puppy food, which she absolutely loves!
